Fertile Hatching Eggs



We have taken the cockerels away from all the breeding hens for the winter.
They have all had a good holiday and we are putting them all back together again now.
We will soon be able to take orders for some of the breeds we keep.

We hope to have Partridge Wyandotte eggs available from the 1st March

We will detail next to the breeds listed below which eggs are ready
most breeds will be from the 20th March

Fertile hatching eggs through the post

We are able to post eggs anywhere in the British Isles using Royal Mail Special Delivery,
the cost covers good quality packaging and guaranteed next day delivery for mainland areas.

Please note that every year we change all our breeding cockerels to ensure new pure unrelated bloodlines are added to our stock.
Any chicks hatched last year will not be related to our current stock cockerels

 

   

Cream Legbar

We have 10 hens running with 3 unrelated cockerels
The cockerels are all pure but the hens are a
mixture of purebred and hybred.

They look like the purebred stock but have a cross in them to give them better egg production.
All the hens are crested.

The eggs they lay are green/ blue in colour,
any pullets hatched from these eggs will
also lay green/ blue eggs.

All our breeding sets are kept in very large grass pens

Indian Game

This breed is a dual purpose breed, it lays a good sized cream egg and also finishes a heavy weight table bird.

Our breeding stock are not huge the pullets weigh
approx 6lbs in weight when mature.

We have 4 cockerels this year that
are simply stunning running with 20 hens

Welsummer

This beautiful Dutch breed lays a large dark brown egg and they are very prolific, they will lay a good
part of the year.

This breed will sometimes go broody but is
predominately an egg laying strain.

This year we also have a Silver Duckwing cockerel running with our breeding set as well as 2 Welsummer cockerels with 15 hens.
therefore you may get an odd Silver Duckwing
chick from these eggs.

Silver Duckwing Welsummer

Another Dutch breed lays a large dark brown egg the same as the traditional Welsummer and their
feather colouring is beautiful.
They are very prolific and they will lay a good
part of the year.

This breed will sometimes go broody but is
predominately an egg laying strain.

From this Silver Duckwing breeding pen some chicks may hatch partridge colour see above.
They will be pure Welsummer and predominately female

Green Leg Partridge Hen

This Polish breed looks very similar to the Partridge Welsummer, only it is slightly smaller
with of course green legs.

They lay a cream colour egg, they are very
hardy and prolific layers.

Araucana

The colour we keep as shown is the Lavender.

These birds lay the blue/ green egg.
Araucana eggs can vary from a dark olive green to blue. We keep three blood lines, the cockerel line lays a olive green egg and the others lay a much
lighter blue/green egg.

This year we have a mixture of 2 year old hens and new pullets so the eggs vary in size

We have 3 cockerels running with 15 hens.

Araucana Set

Cuckoo Maran

This active and graceful breed as shown in the
cuckoo colouring originate from France.

These heavy birds lay a good sized brown egg.

We have 2 breeding sets this year.
The one shown are now 18 months old
consisting of 12 hens and 2 cockerels.
The other set are this years pullets
and we have 16 pullets
and 2 cockerels.

The pullets eggs are not very big yet but
are quite dark for Cuckoo Marans.
Any chicks from these eggs will
grow into a normal sized birds.

French Copper Black Maran

We have 4 unrelated Copper Black cockerels
running with 20 Copper Black pullets

Primarily any chicks that hatch from these eggs will be Copper Black but you may get an
odd Copper Blue or Splash

The hens may lay up to 200 eggs a year. Hens are quite individual in their egg colours, some are lighter than others and vary throughout the year.

Our breeding birds are new pullets for this year so the eggs are not overly big yet but are starting off a good colour. Any pullets from these hens will lay a dark brown egg as the egg colour comes from the cockerels genes which is a dark egg strain.

Copper Black Maran Set

French Copper Blue Maran

We have 1 Copper Blue Maran cockerel and 2 Splash Maran cockerels running with
15 Copper Blue Maran pullets.
They are all feathered legged.

The chicks hatch from these eggs will be a
mixture of Blue, Black and Splash.

Some of the eggs are not yet over big as they
have not been laying that long.

French White Maran

We have 2 French White Maran cockerels running
with 5 hens.
They are all feathered legged.

The eggs are not as brown as some of the
other Maran colours but they are prolific layers.

Blue Maran

We have a Pure Copper Blue Maran and
a Splash Maran cockerel running with
our Blue Maran hens
.
The eggs from the Blue hens are a
cream/ light brown colour
but the cockerels are from a chocolate egg
laying strain so any pullets hatched from these
eggs will lay dark brown eggs.
 
The chicks that will hatch from these eggs
will be a mix of colours from
Blue, Black and Splash or even Red but will obviously all be pure Maran, we have found that a high percentage are hatching blue.

The hens are large in size approx 8-9lb in weight
and lay a good sized egg.

Vorwerk

This German Breed is know for it's foraging abilities.
Great for pony paddocks always last to bed.

They lay a good size cream coloured egg.

We have only a few hens so egg numbers from
 these birds will be limited, we can
do mixes with other breeds or small clutches only

Light Sussex

This hardy utility strain is an excellent laying
and table bird.

We have 3 cockerels who are unrelated to each other running with 15 hens from 2 bloodlines.

Ideal for crossing with the Indian Game
for a good sized table bird

Silkie

Shown here on the right is the White Silkie but we also keep
Gold, Blue and Black.

Silkies make the best broodies, they are exceptionally good at hatching and rearing young

Each hen will lay approx 12-16 eggs before going broody, if prevented from remaining broody they will continue to lay several clutches of eggs per year from February to October.

Our gold silkie breeding set is all pure gold as you can see, however they do throw some partridge coloured chicks.

Partridge Wyandotte

We have 6 cockerels running with
20 partridge wyandotte hens.

The cockerels are from a bloodline we have had for many years and all the pullets have been sourced
from 2 different bloodlines.
 
They lay a reasonable sized cream egg for bantams.
All the breeding birds are extremely friendly.

The partridge make excellent broodies, ideal for someone who wants to sit and hatch their own eggs.
(As good as a silkie)

It is possible that from this breeding set you may get an occasional Pure White Wyandotte chick.
